With season eight winding down, I figured it would be a good time to give the app an update. While the app is still available in the Google Play Store, it’ll be receiving some much needed updates including the ability to login with Google+
So if you’re one of the 50K people who have downloaded the app, be expecting an update within the next week.
I’m adding Kevin Tran to the characters section, but should I just put him under Hunters or add a whole new section for Prophets and include Chuck as well?
Let me know what you guys think!
But the Supernatural Fan App has hit over 11,000 downloads on the Android Market!
That’s pretty exciting news! Far exceeded my expectations when I set out all them months back to create it.
I know that I posted that there was going to be an announcement about the Supernatural Fan App.
There still is, but I haven’t fine tuned all the details yet. It’ll probably be announced this weekend.
Attention Supernatural Fan App Users!
A big announcement is coming tonight!
Check back at 8pm PST to find out!
Even after I stopped updating it, the number of downloads and installs keep going up.
Close to 7K! I never dreamed the app would even pass 100 downloads.
You guys are amazing and maybe, just maybe I’ll update it soon.
I’ve had some more people ask about the Supernatural Fan App and why I’m no longer developing it.
The short answer is money. I can’t afford the web hosting fees as well as other development fees. The Corona SDK isn’t cheap and that’s what the next step of the app was gearing up to. Unfortunately, I can’t afford $199 a year right now.
There have been a few lovely people who have donated to me, and I appreciate that dearly. It means a lot to see people who are willing to give up their own cash for the app.
If you want to donate to fund the app, you can donate through paypal.
If I’m able to raise the money to keep going, I’ll do a special giveaway for those who donated!
Again, I appreciate all the support you all have given and hopefully the project will be able to continue.
Well, to be honest, I can’t afford the web hosting and development costs. The only way at this point is to charge people for it and I don’t want to do that.
It was never meant to be for profit. So yeah, that’s why.
I never thought that I would see the app grow as fast as it has. In less than a month, the app has had over 1600 downloads. The feedback and support has been tremendous. That’s why it breaks my heart to say that version 2.1 will be the final update for the Supernatural Fan App.
After the hours I’ve put into it, I can no longer afford to develop the app. It kills me to see this happen, but I have to make some cuts to survive and paying for the hosting/development has to go.
The app will remain in the Google Play store indefinitely, but unfortunately, the Web version will be discontinued as of April 27, 2012.
I hope to pick it up again when things change, but I don’t know when.
Thank you for all the love, support and feedback you’ve given me about the app. It’s helped me grow as a developer and as a person. I truly do appreciate it.
I love you all, and I thank you all.
